(or: how a "bathroom cleaner" changed the way I look at cleaning)
My name is Daniela, and I am at the very beginning of my journey with HELESHOP. I choose things that I want to have in my own home as well – and that really work. And that is exactly how this story begins. Not in the office, not between spreadsheets and product copy... but at a small, stubborn spot in the bathroom.
There are things I can forgive in the bathroom. A drop of water on the mirror. A few hairs after blow-drying. Even that eternal sand that somehow appears, even though no one has been to the beach.
But limescale on the soap holder? I don’t forgive that. And for a long time, it didn’t forgive me either.
It was one of those "little" stains that looks innocent... until you realize it’s a deposit that has survived three generations of cleaners, two sponges, and a minor existential crisis. I scrubbed. I sprayed. I let it soak. I switched brands. I switched cloths. And eventually, I switched my mood.
And the result? The soap holder just gleamed silently – in the way someone smiles without saying a word.
Back then: chemical cocktail and tears in my eyes
Cleaning the bathroom used to look the same for me. First gloves (preferably up to the elbows), then windows wide open – and in my head, that thought many people know: "This can’t be healthy." Then came that stinging smell that bites at your nose. And in the end, tears in my eyes – not from being moved.
And somewhere in between, the question: Why is "cleanliness" so often a synonym for "I can barely stand it in here"?
"Just try it." And then came my moment
One day, someone pressed the Tierra Verde bathroom cleaner into my hand and said: "Just try it." No big show. No promises like "miracles in three seconds." Just: try it.
And I was like: Okay. But if this doesn't work again, then... (please insert dramatic music).
I sprayed it onto the stubborn limescale, spread it out (it works really well with a sponge, by the way), let it soak for a short time and... it came off. Not "a little bit." Not "after ten minutes." It just came off.
And there I stood – without makeup, with a bun on top of my head – and just thought: This is it.
The moment after: mint instead of an attack on the nose
But the biggest surprise wasn’t just the result. It was the moment after.
No aggressive cloud. No burning in the nose. No inner "get out of here fast." And instead... mint.
The bathroom cleaner is only scented with essential oil from fresh mint. And that is exactly the kind of scent that says "clean" without shouting. Suddenly, I didn’t feel like I had opened a small chemical lab at home – more like I had given the bathroom a fresh start.
And there it was, that thought: This is how I want to clean. Not stressed. Not out of duty. Not with a headache as a bonus program.
Maybe this sounds like a triviality – a cleaner, a bathroom, a soap holder. But it’s exactly those little things that change habits. Once you experience that something works and doesn't ruin your mood in the process, you start looking at the rest of your household differently. Not in the sense of "I have to clean more," but rather: "I want to choose better."
This text isn't here to persuade anyone to switch to eco-products. Nor is it to say that people using classic products are doing something wrong. It's just about a simple experience: When you find something that works – and lets you breathe normally while doing it – it changes the atmosphere at home.
And sometimes that starts quite inconspicuously... for example, at a soap holder.
If I had to say it in one sentence: This bathroom cleaner was the reason I decided on the Tierra Verde eco-store. Because it was the first product where I thought: "Aha. This is what cleaning feels like when it makes sense."
