FAQs

Who is Tierra Verde

Tierra Verde is an eco-friendly drugstore with a 17-year tradition, offering products that clean effectively while being gentle on both skin and the environment.

The range includes products for dishes, laundry, linens, and floors, suitable for households with families and pets. The products contain no unnecessary or harmful additives, and their goal is a clean home with responsibility toward people and nature.

Are your products tested on animals?

We do not test on animals. In the EU, manufacturers have been required to avoid unnecessary animal testing since 2013. Under the REACH regulation, manufacturers share existing test results with the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) and assess the safety of substances using other methods (e.g., cell cultures, bacteria, analogies). New animal tests are only authorized if there is no other alternative.

At TIERRA VERDE, we primarily use proven raw materials whose effects do not need to be re-tested. We always verify the animal testing status of any new substances. We like to say, with a wink, that we test our products on humans – we try everything ourselves and on our families first.

The fact that finished products are not tested on animals is also a requirement for the renowned Ecogarantie certificate, which many of our products carry.

What does EKO mean for your products?

At Tierra Verde, the “eco” label means that the product meets strict ecological criteria and is environmentally and health-friendly. This brand, originally from the Czech Republic and Slovakia, is known for its True-Eco philosophy, which encompasses circular economy, zero-waste production, and a focus on ecological product composition.“

Does your baking soda contain aluminum?

Baking soda, sodium bicarbonate, or sodium hydrogen carbonate (NaHCO₃) contains no aluminum – as the chemical formula already shows. Aluminum should not be present even in packages that do not carry an "aluminum-free" label.

How to properly maintain a dishwasher and resolve cleaning issues

Spots on glasses are caused by mineral deposits. Use rinse aid in the correct dosage, regularly refill salt, and clean the filter and machine.

Wipe the filter and occasionally soak it in hot water with PUER (stain remover). To clean the machine, you can add a spoonful each of PUER and descaler to the bottom and run an empty rinse cycle.

The spray arms also significantly influence washing quality. Remove them and rinse the holes with a water jet – a lot of dirt often accumulates there.

Pay attention to the water temperature. For non-enzymatic detergents, set higher temperatures. White residue can sometimes be avoided by using slightly less rinse aid. Dosage and settings vary by appliance, so it is worth checking the manual.

When switching from conventional to ecological detergents, first clean the machine and run the rinse cycle without dishes until the detergent is used up.

Are your drugstore products also suitable for households with biological sewage treatment systems?

Our products contain no aggressive substances that could damage beneficial bacterial cultures or plants. They are therefore also suitable for biological and botanical wastewater treatment plants as well as for septic tanks.

What are essential oils made of, and are they safe for home use?

Tierra Verde essential oils are 100% natural and organic, made from flowers, leaves, fruits, roots, or bark of plants. The oils are extracted using ecological methods, mostly through steam distillation or cold pressing (in the case of citrus fruits). Thanks to the Ecogarantie certification, it is ensured that they are pure, free from synthetic additives and pesticides, and can be safely used for common household applications in aromatherapy, for room freshening, or in the production of natural cosmetics. However, recommended dosages and safety instructions should be followed during use.

Do face washes contain chemical substances?

No, our products do not contain petroleum products, phosphonates, chlorine, enzymes, optical brighteners, synthetic fragrances, or dyes.
